Let's Lift the Curfew 2026: join us for a special session
Tonight we're joining forces with This Girl Can and their Let's Lift the Curfew campaign.
When the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, millions of women across the UK will once again see their world get smaller as the nights get darker.
Safety concerns affect where they go, when they go, who they go with and whether they can be active outdoors at all.
Whether shaped by past experiences, stories they've heard, or not feeling comfortable or confident in a particular place after dark, many women are unable to be active outdoors or use public spaces in the same way that men do.
In fact, nearly three-quarters (72%) of women in the UK change their outdoor activity routines during winter. Let's Lift the Curfew challenges this reality to ensure no woman has to change where, when or how she gets active because of safety concerns.
You can read about, and complete, GoodGym's own training on this issue here.
Tonight's Task
The Ham and Petersham Association have asked us to help with the area shown in the photo. We will be taking up the river stones, digging out some soil, laying fabric to help weeds and a grid system to put the stones back into to keep them in place.
It's just under 4km each way from our starting point at Tap Tavern so you can choose to meet us there or run one way and get a Forest Bike or public transport back, the choice is yours! The exact location is https://w3w.co/wires.voters.allows
No experience or tools required but please bring a head torch and garden gloves if you have them.
Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.
This is a GoodGym group run. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run to the task together. If you can't run for more than 15 minutes without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Liz (She/her) by email at lizjones@goodgym.org.
Options are available to run between 4km and 8km in total.
Remember that we will be running to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.
Comments are a good place to ask any questions you may have about the session.
