Getting there

For this session we're going to meet at the task, so you'll need to make your own way there. We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle to do so!

About this session

Care4Calais work to ensure that refugees have appropriate clothes to live in the UK, giving them back their dignity and allowing them to engage with services in the community without feeling ashamed by their appearance.

โ“ What is the Task?

We'll be:

  • Recording donations
  • Sorting through clothing
  • Preparing clothing packs for refugees and asylum seekers

Nothing will be wasted. Clothes that aren't suitable for refugees will be donated to other partner charities.

๐Ÿ“ Where?

  • Sandall Road, W5 1JD
    • Exact location will be sent to volunteers before the task

๐Ÿงค Anything Else I Need to Know?

  • Disposable gloves are provided to handle donations if wanted
  • Boxes of clothing may need to be lifted up/down stairs. If you're not comfortable with this, ask others to take over

Sorting clothes to provide packs to individuals in the local community who often arrive with nothing

Care4Calais is a volunteer run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, Northern France and Belgium. We believe in a fair and tolerant British society and advocate for a welcoming and inclusive attitude towards refugees. Operating year round, our focus is to provide warm clothing, bedding, food and medical assistance to people in desperate need. We also provide social support and interaction, including language lessons and sports and music workshops.

What to look out for

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.

This is a GoodGym community mission. When we're doing a community mission we make our own way to the task, so you can choose to walk, run, or cycle. Thinking of cycling - check out our FAQs

This session is organised by your Taskforce, a group of experienced GoodGym members in your area. They are not responsible for your safety. You should feel confident to participate in the session as it is described and you do so at your own risk.
