For this session we're going to meet at the task, so you'll need to make your own way there. We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle to do so!
This group of volunteers are doing an amazing job creating a space for community growing, helping get fresh fruit and veg to everybody. They need help clearing some plastic and glass from an area in the back garden- all safety equipment will be provided. They also need a hand shovelling some rock around the raised beds.
The impact on the community would be significant. You'll be helping create a level and accessible growing area where planters can be installed, allowing increased food production for the local community.
No need to bring anything or have any special skills - just turn up and get stuck in!
This will be a satisfying task with a great workout thrown in! If you have gloves these would be helpful but not essential.
The project aims to grow fresh food with members of the local community. These planters will be located in the heart of the largest council estate in the UK and will help to increase food sovereignty within the area. Community members will be invited to harvest the fresh fruit, vegetables, and herbs they need, providing greater access to healthy, locally grown food while encouraging community connection, learning, and shared stewardship of the garden.
