About this session

In February 2011, local children planted 21 fruit trees to form a Community Orchard in the overgrown tennis courts in the Lammas Enclosure, between Lammas and Walpole Parks. Volunteers from Ealing Transition have taken on the management of the area and preservation of natural habitats.

The residents call on our own GoodGym volunteers from time to time when they have specific tasks that need extra pairs of hands.

โ“ What are we doing?

Lammas Orchard has expanded outside its fences! Ealing Transition have been planting new hedges and tiny forests around the nearby tennis courts and one of these forests needs GoodGym help. When the forest was planted, not enough mulch was laid down, so the forest is becoming overgrown and we've been asked to:

  • โœ‚๏ธ Chop back the growth around the new saplings
  • ๐Ÿ›’ Top up the mulch to hold back the weeds

Not sure you'll keep up? GoodGym is for everyone (18+). Whether you've never run before, or are chasing a marathon PB, you are 100% welcome. We always have a back-marker so no one gets left behind.

What if I'm not a runner? 70% of GoodGym members start as non-runners so if you're new to this kind of thing you will be supported by people who are all on the same journey. ๐Ÿ‘

What do I need to wear? Most of us wear gym/running gear but this isn't required, so wear whatever you're comfortable working in. Make sure you're prepared for the weather.

Don't feel like you're fit enough? Our tasks are simple and fun. There are easy jobs as well as more challenging things for those who want a workout! The choice is always yours.

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.

This is a GoodGym group run, with the option of walking too. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run or walk to the task together. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Kash by email at kash@goodgym.org.

Options are available to run between 2km and 4km in total.

Remember that we will be running or walking to and from the task, so you'll only be running or walking for half this distance in one go.
