For this session we're going to meet at the task, so you'll need to make your own way there. We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle to do so!
The Prospect Hospice needs our help again at Christmas! For the past two years, GoodGym Swindon has been invited to 'takeover' the Prospect's gift wrapping station in the Brunel Centre and guess what...we have been invited back again; this time on Saturday 12th December 2020!
So, what is the task you may ask?! Wrapping presents for the local community in return for a minimum suggested donation of £2 per gift to the hospice.
Last year, GoodGym'ers said that volunteering on the stand was a lot of fun, very festive and a chance to meet some lovely people in the community, some that may want to know more about GoodGym! So don't forget to wear your GoodGym tops (and thermals) everyone!
According to the Prospect "...each year we get a great response and as we get closer to Christmas (in particular, the final weekend) it starts getting very busy, mainly with last minute shoppers and ‘bad’ wrappers that urgently need our help. The busier the better though because it’s a lot of fun wrapping all the gifts, and all the ‘customers’ that visit the stand are in great Christmas spirit, are very generous and always so kind". Last year the gift wrapping stall raised £7,000 for Prospect Hospice, bringing the total since the initiative started in 2014 to around £30,000.
Knowing that the Prospect Hospice requires £9 million annually to deliver dedicated specialist end-of-life care, and that COVID-19 has had a massive impact on many charities, every penny really does count at the moment.
Please note that this is an indoor task, so unless exempt, a face covering is essential. Please also bring the usual - hand sanitiser, antibacterial wipes and perhaps a Christmas hat if you have one. Let's have some Christmas fun everyone!
Prospect Hospice offers unparalled end-of-life care services for a community of more than 300,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and North Wiltshire.

The Prospect Hospice has cancelled this event because of COVID-19. It was not deemed as safe because of volunteers from different households working in close proximity in an indoor setting.
