Report written by Hayley Williams
A thing of beauty at Galleywall Nature Reserve last night! We helped out with a real variety of tasks that will allow the space to keep existing harmoniously. A group of us had a great run there and within moments Vic and Anna had the waders on and were straight into the pond doing a great job clearing out the overgrowth.
Emma turned the compost over to the next stage of it's process getting that arm work out in there too while Sam and Nelly had the mindful task of cutting down reeds to add back to the compost pile. Circle of compost life!
Lovely to hear about Nelly's 10k routine and Anna's triathlon success too - inspiring stuff :)
Looking forward to next week's adventure!
The Galleywall Nature Reserve is a small plot of land which has been owned by Southwark Housing for decades. It was used by the adjacent Galleywall School for some time before the school closed. It has been maintained by a group of volunteers, the Friends of Galleywall Nature Reserve, since 2004, under an ongoing long-term agreement with the council.
