The day dawned bright and relatively mild...perfect conditions for a little gardening, and Martin’s Garden provided us with plenty of gardening tasks from which to choose.

Steve was there to meet us as we arrived, and spent some time explaining the difficulties he faced, trying to maintain the gardens, mainly single-handedly. It is a huge task, and one that we would like to help with again, in the spring.

Our main task today was clearing weeds from numerous pots and raised beds.

The more green-fingered among us, i.e. Carol trimmed and pruned, admired the plantings and made plans for future visits. A big shout-out for her first GoodGym Mission today!

Matthew and I turned our attention to a couple of overgrown beds and pots, where there was evidence of tomato plants, beetroot and potatoes.

After about an hour or so, we began to see the fruits of our labour which will, hopefully, encourage other volunteers to get involved.
