The BIG 50 at Healey Peoples Park

On a fairly mild Feb eve a FANTASTIC FIVE set off from The Showroom Cinema to meet up with the rest of the gabble at our old friends Heeley People’s Park.

A HUGE GG welcome to new runner Sarah who joined us on her first GG run. Hope to see you back again in the future soon.

Our friend Rob the Parky had been unlucky getting a new load of woodchip for the playground area, but the old chip needed turning over in any case.

We got straight to it with fork and rake turning over the old for the new to fluff up and increase the longevity of the playground surface.

With decent numbers it didn’t take us long to fluff the four areas of woodchip and pop tools back tidy and safe for Rob.

This left us with some time for some park fitness which of course had to involve slides as we were in a playground!

We got in some quick sets of proper star jumps and knee ticks before racing to the slide of choice for some strong weeeeeeee’s!

Those of us that headed back to The Showroom stopped on for a couple of beers each and tales of swim trips gone by, clear waters, cold waters, jellyfish and chaffing!

Until next time, happy running! :)

Heeley Development Trust
"Making Heeley a better place to be. We want Heeley to be a successful, vibrant and inclusive community; a good place to live, to work, to do business and to visit."

Heeley Development Trust (HDT) is a small, charitable development trust, founded by local volunteers, business people & residents in 1996. We have delivered youth, community, environmental and economic development projects in and around our neighbourhood for the last 20 years. We are working hard, developing a diverse range of income, social enterprises and assets, all with the aim of making Heeley a great place to live, with a real sense of place, pride and community. Our projects include; Heeley People's Park, Sum Studios (saving a Grade 2 listed Victorian School and redeveloping as managed work space – this is bringing jobs and investment into our community), The Heeley Voice - a local magazine and Recycle Bikes – a social enterprise supporting disengaged young people to gain training, confidence, work experience and jobs. If you are interested in any of our projects, would like to get involved or are willing to volunteer any of your time please do not hesitate to contact us or give us your feedback.
