Ok, perhaps not the best of puns, but it does cover the task quite adequately!

For ages the Wanstead Community Gardeners, a long-standing friend of Goodgym Redbridge, had been looking to do something about the bed between Wanstead Station & the George pub. After lots of thinking & planning & negotiating with the council, it was time for action

First all the scrubs & rubbish were cleared by the council. Then the soil was checked and leveled. At last this weekend it was time to give the bed its new look!

The George Pub had kindly given permission for a delivery of turf to be dropped in their car park, so it was 'merely' a matter of getting 3 pallets worth safely across the road and like a giant tetris puzzle spread out to cover every inch. Cue a little band of GG workers - Jenny, Hélène & John all joined the WCG crew and seemingly made light work of shifting the mountain of turf plus helping laying it out.

Such was the speed at which things developed that when the next shift of volunteers showed up to come and help, there were merely cosmetics left to do.

As always, it was nice to catch up in person with Jenny & John, and a delight seeing the wonderful Helene again!

P.S... mental note for some... when planning to meet someone after a Goodgym task, best to bring a clean top ;-)
