M phoned me this evening to check what the time was. “Almost 7:30”. “Are you sure?” “Yes, quite”. This went on for a while as it turned out that M’s carer wasn’t coming back until 9:30 and she was certain that it must be nearer 9:30 by now. To pass the time, we chatted about Countryfile, the beautiful weather, M’s garden that she’d been sitting in this afternoon and her family who had been to visit. M said that she felt alive again, which was just lovely to hear. She checked the time a few more times with me and we had a good laugh about it, with me telling her that it wasn’t 7:30 any longer but now 7:40! M came out with a quote that I informed her I would need to relay to my parents (which made her laugh a lot): “I had to phone you as you’re the most sensible person I know”. Hmmmmm, let’s see if the parents agree....
