Fresh from weeding the rockery at Stephens House a couple of kilometers away, our task this afternoon was to tidy up the garden for Mrs J. She is blind and housebound but needs to keep the garden well-maintained as part of her tenancy. Happy to help, we said a quick hello to Mrs J and were then given some tools and a list of tasks by her neighbour. The garden was in a fairly good state but we spent an hour or so weeding, sweeping, removing some invasive spring onions and trimming back a plant that was blocking a window. We made some interesting finds on the way, including a single shoe, a dog puppet and some sort of spiky catapult (?). Presumably lured by the juicy earthworms we dug up, we were joined by a friendly robin (who charmed us so much we spent similar amount of robin-watching as we did gardening).
