Sheila was the sole sign-up for today's allotment session, so got straight to work. The water butts were filled from the long hose to the tap while I got on with other jobs. I potted up 2 globe artichokes, pinched out the side shoots from the tomatoes, and did some general weeding. The full water butts will be available for the volunteers coming in to water during next week's predicted dry spell

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
