Team Leader Tom found he had an urgent appointment in South America and so it fell to Capable Chris to get his hands dirty for his first time as run leader and guide 37 super Sheffield runners to Heeley Peoples’ Park for an excursion into the undergrowth. Michelle proudly wore her red bow tie to celebrate her 50th Good Gym mission. Setting out from the Showroom in the light was a great start to the evening as we made our way to the task and a meeting with Heeley Park stalwarts Andy, Rob and Bev. On arrival we had a quick briefing and the announcement of a competition: which team can gather the most Sticky Willy in the time available? Sam, Harris and Kat lead their groups away under the trees and the race was on. Three large dump bags were filled in quick time and, in the interests of group harmony, the outcome was declared a draw. From the park we headed back to the Showroom with a detour for some circuits, along with box jumps, dead hangs, push-ups and triceps dips along the way. Once back we had a stretching session and dealt with a full week of announcements for upcoming Good Gym events. Sadly we had to say Goodbye to Michelle , who is off for an adventure in Mull, while Sioned is returning to Bristol: we will all miss you both. And finally, Good Luck and Good Running to all the intrepid Good Gymers running the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday, the cheer squad will be out to help you along.

"Making Heeley a better place to be. We want Heeley to be a successful, vibrant and inclusive community; a good place to live, to work, to do business and to visit."

Heeley Development Trust (HDT) is a small, charitable development trust, founded by local volunteers, business people & residents in 1996. We have delivered youth, community, environmental and economic development projects in and around our neighbourhood for the last 20 years. We are working hard, developing a diverse range of income, social enterprises and assets, all with the aim of making Heeley a great place to live, with a real sense of place, pride and community. Our projects include; Heeley People's Park, Sum Studios (saving a Grade 2 listed Victorian School and redeveloping as managed work space – this is bringing jobs and investment into our community), The Heeley Voice - a local magazine and Recycle Bikes – a social enterprise supporting disengaged young people to gain training, confidence, work experience and jobs. If you are interested in any of our projects, would like to get involved or are willing to volunteer any of your time please do not hesitate to contact us or give us your feedback.
