This evening's task took us up Brixton Hill to Palace Road Nature Gardens but before that, we had a quick chat about our lunches (there were some pretty fancy ones for a Tuesday lunchtime) and we welcomed Clare to her very first GoodGym run! 🥳

The route up to the gardens is basically one long hill, so we learned a few tricks for making them a touch easier via the anacronym SKAB (Slightly smaller steps, Knees up a bit more than usual, Arms - use them!, Balloon - keep your head/body up straight).

Everyone smashed the hill and we met Gerry who showed us our task. Lots of the brambles and ivy had grown across the paths around the garden so we were equipped with shears to trim it back. After a solid half hour, we'd managed half the paths so decided to call it a day and said we looked forward to coming back soon.

Nice job guys 💥

Palace Road Nature Gardens
A wild oasis in Streatham

This small nature garden was created in the 1980s. It provides a varied habitat of both an open grassland and a wooded area of exotic and native trees. The pond attracts dragonflies and damselflies flying above and frogs and newts swimming below. Gerry always needs a hand to keep the paths clear of brambles and weeds and to make sure the public space can be enjoyed by everyone.
