Friends of Ladywell Fields have been looking after around 100 saplings of various sorts and today was the day for transferring them from the local nursery to the park. Two Goodgymers attended to be met by the friends and started the day by digging many holes. After this it was time to plant the mix of trees consisting of hawthorn, blackthorn, maple and dogwood. Post planting trees needed to be toed in and watered, the water being provided by an ingenious system of dumpling a bucket on a rope into the nearby river and pulling it out (very much care having been taken to ensure hold was kept of the other end of the rope). All that remained was to cover the base of the newly planted trees with mulch and the task was complete.
