On the International Day of Happiness and March equinox, Goodgym and York Greenways took us all the way to Pluto in glorious Spring sunshine. A speedy cycle to Naburn station meeting up with Egg, Lucy, and Goodgym first timer, Helen, all on bikes, except Emma, running directly to Pluto, in theory.

We cycled in pairs and talked whilst negotiating others along the route. We heard lots of birdsong, noticed the high water level, admired the bug house Goodgymmers had built previously and gravel bags ready for next week’s maze mission, exciting!

When we arrived I got to climb the hill to Pluto to scout out the area already prepared for seed sewing. We did a quick litter pick, then set about scoring into the topsoil with sticks and tools to prepare the ground for seeds, then got sewing. Helen’s first Goodgym was the lightest ever.

Emma messaged to say she’d arrived at the Naburn and asked how much further it was, and Egg said about 4 miles. Emma nearly, but not quite, made it to Pluto. Emma accepted the offer of water, then we returned to Naburn for a sample of my apple, oat, hazelnut, honey flapjacks (sugar free). We talked about new year resolutions, doing warm ups and cool downs, and Lucy said why aren’t we more like cats, stretching when our bodies need it, then went our separate ways.

We all managed around 17 miles, so one of the longer Goodgym sessions! The full set of photos in the order taken are here https://www.facebook.com/christine.cockett/media_set?set=a.1419427098200520&type=3
