Tuesday evening with daylight.... Spring is springing!
We kicked off with some document checking for Emily - great to have you join the run as well, welcome to Lambeth GoodGym! ๐
We were due to have a fun quiz (with prizes!) to wrap up Women's History Month but the AA promptly forgot in the excitement of getting out into the light and starting the warm up. Oh well, if you would like to be sent the ques you can answer them on the WhatsApp group and receive your prize next week. ๐
We set off at a decent clip for a quick 2.5kms to get us ready for one of the more physical gardening tasks we have had in a while and the team divided into 3 groups for breaking up and clearing the big branches from the slope, freeing the strawberry patch from the twigs and clearing the area where the compost heap would go. ๐
After 30 mins of hacking, stacking and clearing the new bug hotels were ready, all areas were cleared and we could do a few quick shuttles with the wheelbarrow to bring the compost over and pour into the big planter. One small issue - it was up a gravelly slope - not ideal for wheelbarrows as it turns out! (Frances and Adam thanks for the help shuttling the barrow up and down)
What better way to end than Caroline from Pulross Centre giving out fresh Brixton Chard for people to take home and once back at base for warm down the conversation turned to massaging kale and how best to prep the Chard for dinner, yum. ๐ฅ
This group creates growing spaces in surgeries and hospitals across Lambeth for plants and vegetables.
