"I want a task with lots of lopping to fix a tough day”

Charlotte’s wish was Ouseburn Trust’s command on a stunning summer evening for our group run. We met two brilliant new GoodGymers Hayley and Becci who chose a gorgeous night to get going with GGNCL!

Our beginners sessions are great to showcase what we are all about, and after an intro, a very short walk and meeting up with task owner Dave, we set off to complete a very physical task.

(My arms are already shaking and the task was only two hours ago!)

Dave led us up to the top of the Ouseburn Valley where we’d been brought in to complete a glory task- finish a section of path clearing that had been started by a group of corporate volunteers earlier in the day. This was a proper physical upper body task as we lopped and chopped weeds back to make the overgrown paths wider and safer for the many pedestrians that pass through. This combined with the uphill walk and the evening sunshine made it a warm one and a definitely stress release!

We did a fitness session to finish off the session, with everyone completing uphill runs, press ups, planks and star jumps to end Monday on a high.

We are back in action with a leaflet drop next Monday, hope to see you then!
