Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Share the love

At Bristol Good Gym we love Windmill Hill City Farm. We love the oasis of green in the grey city, the blind goose that has a guide goose to help it out, the tiny dog sized goats and of course the piggies!

So I can firmly say it was no chore to run to the farm on Tuesday to help them with more tasks. 14 farmers-to-be headed out to the farm on a beautiful and warm September evening, had a quick sip of water and then got stuck in to our tasks.

The bindweed problem at the farm is vast, so we had a massive attack at that vigorous vine, and the bindweed, coupled with some equally enthusiastic snow berry bushes, meant that one of the paths around the outside of the farm was getting impassable. With Good Gym energy tapped, we made short work of a good part of this overgrowth and even reached the fence at one point.

Another group were sifting compost, to save the useful stuff and recycle the less decomposed matter. It was tough on the arms, but hey, that’s why we enjoy Good Gym!

As so often happens, we ran out of time at the farm all too soon, and after a quick look at the pigs, goats, tiny goats, ducks, geese, cats and goldfish we ran back.

I think it’s safe to say that whilst we didn't have time to do any core work, or exercise our bodies in other ways apart from running, we let our inner child (or kid?) out for a bit of a run around instead.
