The wonderful folk at Care4Calais Stockport put out an appeal for donations of mens clothing as they had had 170 male refugees arriving hotels across Manchester and did not have the donated supplies to offer them the basic clothing.
GoodGym Stockport jumped on board and rallied up donations from friends, family and colleagues and designated one of our group runs to load ourselves up like a pack horse and run the collected donations to the C4C headquarters.
Little did we know that the we would have the added hurdle of snow, hail and sleet to contend with!
We set off from base in minus degrees, layered up,.lamps on and backpacks on to brave the snow.
A 3km downhill run, a quick unloading and sorting task then a 3km uphill run and we were back at base.

Last night's run felt like the first of the winter - a chill in the air but a spring in our step!
We embarked on a steady 2.5 downhill run back to the Care4Calais warehouse to continue with last week's task of wrapping presents for refugee children who are living in hotels across Manchester.
Donning our festive hats - two santas and a festive turkey (thanks Jen!) we speedily wrapped gift after gift and piled box after box until the warehouse was filled with gifts galore.
Then onto the upward slog uphill...

Last night saw 7 GoodGymers getting TROLLIED to help our local charity, Re:dish.
Re:dish were given a Safestore storage facility to house their donated goods and sadly, at the end of the month, their lease was up and the goods needed returning to the shop.
Like many times before, our regular Re:dish task is to use the finest form of transport for the donated stock - a trusty Morrisons trolley - and dash it down the road to move the goods.
This week, we welcomed a new GoodGymer, Julie, who quickly got settled in to her role as trolley dasher.
We left the shop and arrived at the storage facility, only to find ourselves locked out and unable to complete the task.
Undefeated, and with BAGS of energy (in stead of donated stock!) we took on an extended run and returned to base.
When all is said and RUN, we still had a great social run and a catch up!

One of our regular and super rewarding tasks is helping at the Care4Calais warehouse in Stockport.
With the arrival of a large number of refugees into the Uk and some being housed at local hotels in Manchester. Care4 Calais desperately need both volunteers and donations to help those in need.
As the cold weather draws in,the refugees are in need of warm Winter clothes to see them through the Winter months. Our task for last night's session was to create care packages of clothes to be delivered to individual hotel rooms.
We were each designated room numbers along with lists of clothes and shoes for each person then searched and scoured the warehouse to find all the goodies to package up.
It's easy to see how our previous clothes sorting tasks are valuable as the warehouse was now separated into sections of gender, age, clothing item and size A perfect system!
20 bags in and all the packages were ready to wind their way to those in need. It was a heartwarming task knowing that someone will receive a package of goddies ready to keep them warm over the cold Winter months.
We definitely have the hang'er this task now!
