You got to move...

Saturday 13th January

Written by Katie Carew-Robinson (she/her)

Today's good deed was a lesson in going with the flow, changing the plan and crossing roads.

Mini GoodGymer Alice managed to demonstrate all 10 fundamental movement skills, try her hand at spray painting and win a signed football!

Jen reignited her gymnastics skills, Dave finally defrosted after parkrun and Jane discovered the fun of the adventure playground.

Thanks to all for your flexibility today! Perhaps I'll get to set up my obstacle course next time.... !?!

Rockstar Recruiters!

Tuesday 3rd October 2023

Written by Jen Stoneham

Jen, Mel and Tracey attended the Portsmouth Uni Volunteer and Work Experience Fair today. We talked pretty much non-stop to students for the whole three hour session, spreading through GoodGym Values as we did so. We met plenty of enthusiastic potential GoodGymers, hopefully we'll see them along to a task soon.

We checked that it was possible to understand what the researchers wanted us to do and we identified some types of plastic as part of the research.

We fed back our findings to the team at Jetsam.

A barrow-load of fun

Saturday 2nd April 2022

Written by Judy Knapp

We were a bit overawed by the sight of all the washed-in rubbish on Tipner Shore - vast quantities of small pieces of plastic and large pieces of polystyrene and timber. Luckily, John & Vicki had brought their wheelbarrow and we had lots of sacks.

90 minutes later we had a barrow-load and had made a slight dent in the amount on the Shore. And we had chatted to several grateful passers-by.

The long arm of the litter picker

Sunday 6th March 2022

Written by Katie Carew-Robinson (she/her)

Today's task was taking on the massive amount of rubbish that's thrown as people are crossing Burrfields Bridge.

We started by clearing near to the fence, then reaching in as far as we could and finally with John and Wilson climbing over the fence and throwing as much rubbish as possible out to us.

We finished with 3 bags of recycling and 5 of rubbish, not bad for just over an hour's work.

Interesting finds included a car mat, the bottom of a cone, a mobile phone holder, a "frame" and a frying pan (insert your jokes here...)

Then it was time to squeeze the rubbish into the bins then warm up and get ready for Sunday afternoon!
