Fast as Carrs at this speedy litter pick!

Tuesday 7th July

Written by Annie Smith (she/her)

Three of us met at Carrs Lane Church on this sunny evening in the city centre! After some litter pickers went walkabout, we thought fast and got hold of some dustpans and brushes to get the job done. It was great to welcome Ali to his first task with Goodgym and thanks to James for coming along to help too. They were both speedy picking litter across the different grassy sections while I was on bin bag duty as they emptied in many dustpans of rubbish. We had a full bag of litter before too long and the grass by Carrs Lane Church was lovely and clear.

Tuesday 31st March

It was just Jonny at today's run club and litter pick so he decided to bike to the session and do his run later, but still enjoyed the sunshine whilst picking some litter :)

Giving it the Beans!

Wednesday 4th February

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight was Jonny's running session, with Marcus the new area activator for Worcester joining us, along with Javis doing his 2nd GG session.

We warmed up running to Millenium Point our destination for our interval session. The session was a 'mixed pace workout' which was 4 x 30 second efforts, off 30 seconds rest, followed by 4 x 3 minute efforts off 1 min jog recoveries, then to finish 4 x 1 minute off 1 minute jog. Both Marcus and Javis certainly gave it the full beans!

Once done we went to the Carrs Lane Church to complete our litter pick before heading back to the Good Intent.

Back on the Hills!

Tuesday 13th January

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight GG Brum were back on the hills! Yep it was the coached running session led by Jonny.

We ran around 1k to the Mailbox where we'd do a hill session. The session was some hill strides to start with to improve form, then it was into 10 minutes of Kenyan Hills. This was then followed with some lactic hill sprints! Both Eve and Emily worked very hard, going literally flat out on the hill sprints!

Once done we headed back to the Good Intent to collect the litter pickers for a quick litter pick around the Carrs Lane Church.

We Certainly Had Good Intent!

Tuesday 14th October 2025

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight we were at our brand new city centre base, The Good Intent.

The session was a running workout followed by a litter pick outside the church on Carrs Lane.

We headed off to 'the hill' in the Jewellery Quarter to do some Kenyan hills. The workout was 8 minutes of Kenyan hills followed by 3 hard hill sprints. Everyone worked hard as you can see from the photos, the group were running so hard they caused a blur!

Once done we swung by our old base, 1000 Trades to pick up our litter pickers to take to our litter picking spot.

We managed a full bag of litter clearing the area in double quick time.

Once done, we walked back to the Good Intent for a well earned drink :)

Lone Good Gymer at Carrs Lane Church

Saturday 6th September 2025

I spent about an hour there to do the whole thing. So with even two people it would be done in a flash. There was a homeless person sleeping in one corner of the green space so I didn’t feel comfortable litter picking there but that’s probably good therapy for me as a recovering perfectionist. 😂 Definitely a bring a litter pick scenario since I found all sorts of stuff there. The only challenge was where to dispose of the trash afterward, since there was a lot of it. Luckily, the receptionist at the local Travelodge was really kind and offered to get rid of it for me. Overall a very rewarding mission and definitely a good candidate for a weekly litter pick. I’m not here next weekend, but if anyone is free to join me, I’ll be going the following Saturday.
