Splish Splosh, GoodGym Carwash!

Sunday 12th May

Written by David Mansfield

To mark the end of the football season, grassroots football club 61 F.C. hosted a charity tournament and invited three other teams and their families to join in this very summery festival of football.

GoodGym's task for the day was to manage the car parking and run a carwash to raise more funds for charity.

David arrived early to get the cars park and take car washing orders, then later a flock of Goodgym reinforcements swooped into the park by bike 🚲 and got quickly stuck in to washing the cars.

Man of the moment Musa completed his 100th deed with this task! Well done Musa!

With all the team going at the cars with gusto it was a race to keep clean buckets of water coming! We lost count of cars but it was about 10 in the end and we collected a nice bunch of donations and got fed from the BBQ for our efforts.

All White Mate

Wednesday 19th July 2023

We had a massive team out tonight with several new faces, Eron, Karim, Jacob and Soran. Welcome to the team, I hope you all enjoyed your first session!

Our task this week was scraping and painting the posts at the 61 Football Club. With so many in attendance I was very glad that I dug loads of extra scrapers out of my garage.

As soon as the first runners arrived we started the scraping marathon and soon had loads of people scraping away at the concrete posts. Once the first posts were finished we got some painters going, giving the posts a fresh coat of white paint.

The scraping team went crazy and got loads done, getting way ahead of the painters, so next week when we return we'll be able to get painting straight away.

Theres a few more visits left in this task yet but we made excellent progress tonight. the place looks much cleaner and fresher. really transformed from the tired paintwork we found on our first visit.

The night also saw Ella complete her 50th good deed with us, so she has earned her new black shirt and will be showing it off soon. Well done Ella!

🌧️ Wet Wet Wet and Love is All Around ☔

The raindrops were falling as we gathered outside the town hall this week for our Group Run to the 61 Football Club where we have been tidying the grounds up before the new football season.

With the rain it wasn't possible to do any painting so instead we scraped the old paint off of posts so they are all ready for painting at our next visit. We also reclaimed the path from the pitch to the club house from the encroaching turf.

The rain wasn't getting any lighter but everyone stuck at it without getting miserable, being in it together kept smiles on everyones faces. Rain wont stop us!

We had a quick break for half-time squash in the changing room before heading back out into the weather to complete our session before hitting the good kind of showers 🚿

Scoring a Blue-tiful Goal!

Wednesday 10th January

Written by David Mansfield

A hardy team gathered on this frosty night to make their way to the task for the evening, painting at the 61 Football Club.

We made our way along the busway under a starry sky, breath mist illuminated by head torches all the way as we kept moving to keep warm.

Soon we arrived at the nice warm clubhouse where Cliff and Richard had set out all the kit for the evening so everyone could get involved right on arrival. With seven brushes and rollers on the go, the paint went on the walls rapidly and the task was completed in no time at all, leaving us time for a nice stretching session.

With muscles feeling looser the team bravely set off into the cold dark night once again for the return journey before hot showers!

Paint the Town Red (and White) 🤍 ♥️

Wednesday 6th December 2023

Written by David Mansfield

We were a team of five on a frosty December evening, making our way carefully along the icy pavements with a combination of gentle running and walking to suit all abilities and energy levels.

We were heading back to the 61 Football Club for one last painting session before the end of year. On arrival we cracked out red paint for the back room floor and white paint for the referee's changing room. The spaces only being small meant we were done quickly and could give the entrance area a coat of white as well.

With that all done and brushes and rollers washed we were kindly given some chocolate to see is through the return journey back into the town centre.

The club is starting to look really smart thanks to all the recent efforts. To thank us for helping Richard and Cliff offered us the use of the club for our Christmas party 🎉

🥶 Ice Ice Baby Blue ❄️

Wednesday 29th November 2023

Sub-zero temperature made us all very grateful for our indoor meeting location where we could get thoroughly warmed up before dashing out into the frosty night air.

It's definitely bobble hat and gloves weather now but all the warm up and running gave us good central heating so it wasn't uncomfortable as we headed along the busway to the clubhouse at 61FC.

On arrival Cliff issued us with rollers and brushes and we set to work making the walls of the home changing room a lovely baby blue, the 61FC team colour.

With a team strong in number we managed to get the big home changing room sorted very quickly and moved on to the away changing room. With all the relevant walls sorted it was time for washing brushes and cake 🍰

Lizzy had just completed her 💯 th good deed and earned her GoodGym Wings🪽 Well done Lizzy!
