Every year we have a lovely community event of a lantern carnival in the local area, the theme this year was "Spring into life". This year I took on the role of volunteer coordinator for the lantern making workshops ahead of the event, one of which I also helped out at, supervising and assisting (and admiring!) others making their lanterns. On the night, I helped man a stall serving hot drinks and pastries and taking donations towards next year's event. I still got to witness the parade and there were some amazing lanterns and it was a brilliant atmosphere!

3 Goodgymmers joined other volunteers to steward at local community event Sharrow Lantern Carnival.

We helped set up by moving lanterns at the start, then we engaged members of the public at the starting point, whilst collecting donations. We then walked the parade in pairs whilst being a point of contact for people needing first aid, lost children and general queries, whilst still rattling our buckets for more donations.

Highlight was a little boy at the end who had saved up all his pocket money to donate after enjoying the previous year so much 😍
