9 GoodGymers have supported Greener Together Alma Street with 2 tasks.

Heavy rains ceased as per the GoodGym Gods request after it positively pissed it down all day. Rosie and I jogged over to meet the crew and discussed our weekend exploits, including viral/allergen exposure to little people. Shaz, Kev and Paul, had already tidied one of the Alma parklets by our arrival.
We walked up the road, met Billie and took instructions. She's taken it upon herself to shape up the local green patches, with a small council injection of money she's recruited the community to own and care for these pockets of calm. We were on a blitz of one of them yesterday; picking up all the litter and clearing the ground of unwanted wild weeds. Five of us plus, Billie and her daughter and grandson, whacked the weeds, bagged up the waste and three quarters of an hour later and the place was unrecognisable. The effects of a vision, some direction and a bit of elbow grease. Look forward to heading back there soon.
Next week it's over to Forest Gate's finest, The Up Garden. Believe we're boosting biodiversity by prepping a butterfly patch. Will confirm details.

A new task for us this evening helping Bille from Greener Together Alma Street
Alma Street is a play area which was upgraded to improve the sports facilities for local residents,it includes a seating area.
Weeding and litter picking was the task for this evening.
Hilary and Brad arrived via the Olympic Park with the rest of us arriving from our homes due to late finishing at work.
Kevin,Hilary and Hilary set about clearing the area around the tree.
Brad was king of litter picking.
Paul and Rosa tackled the thistles with help from Billie.
I started clearing the bed near the play area entrance.
An hour passed very quickly but lots of weeds and rubbish removed.
Still work to get the last of the thistles out so we shall be back for part 2 in August.
