Preparing ground ready to sow a wildflower area in the orchard. This preferably needs to be done before the end of February.
The small hospital orchard offers a tranquil therapeutic outdoor space at a hospital for older people with mental illness or dementia. We want the people in our care to be able to access the outdoor environment and improve their mental and physical health wellbeing through contact with nature. By creating a wildflower area in the orchard we hope to encourage bees and insects, which will help the fruit trees. We aim to use the area for a wide range of nature-based and mindful activities such as gardening, painting, photography, tai chi, music and art therapy etc. We also hope to open up the area to local residents and schools.
