Elsley and Corsham House Community Gardens

Elderly residents at these two housing estates are starting community growing spaces to grow fruit, vegetables, and flowers.
The projects have been started to help residents grow food, flowers, and herbs on their doorstep. Without access to allotments or community gardens at an accessible distance, these gardens that suit the elderly residents' specific access needs are to be key points of community for residents.

7 GoodGymers have supported Elsley and Corsham House Community Gardens with 3 tasks.

This work grows on you!

Monday 21st April

Written by Pete

Samina, Tabitha, Chris, Pete and Christian joined Jack at Corsham Sheltered Housing in Wembley to distribute soil into the raised beds to get them ready for planting in May. Much time was spent shovelling soil into wheelbarrows then taking them up to the raised beds and tipping the soil in. We welcomed Christian for the first time who came all the way from Kingston and did a great job. At the end we put the tools away. The beds are looking much better now. Well done everyone.

It’s Soil Good

Monday 14th April

Written by Tabitha Skinner

Tabitha , Chris , Beatriz , Nouri and Pete helped Jack from Seeds of growth shift around 1500 litres of soil into a raised bed We took it in turns filling barrows , walking them to the beds and shifting the soil .

This will help elderly residents be able to plant flowers this Spring .

There is plenty more to do so we will be coming back twice more: https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/goodgym-brent-moving-soil-into-raised-beds-for-elderly-residents-in-brent and https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/goodgym-brent-bank-holiday-soil-shifting-and-shaking
