Woking is set for it's very own GoodGym, launching Wednesday 11th October

The launch of GoodGym Woking has been made possible through the generous support of the Community Foundation for Surrey, Thames Valley Housing Association and Woking Borough Council. GoodGym Woking will be led by local trainer Nick Frost. He said:

"I can’t wait to get GoodGym up and running in Woking. This is a fantastic opportunity to get the people of Woking fit and active whilst doing good in the community. So many people will benefit from the amazing work GoodGym can provide."

In addition to the weekly group run organised by Nick, GoodGym runners will also be paired with an isolated older person and commit to a weekly social visit and/or help with one-off household tasks. The GoodGym befriending scheme has been proven to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing.

Cllr Beryl Hunwicks, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing, said:

“We are excited to welcome GoodGym to Woking. The launch of such a creative scheme, fresh from London, is testament to the borough’s open-mindedness and willingness to embrace new ideas and innovations. It is a superb initiative that will benefit a great deal of people in our community, whether is it by encouraging them to get fit with a free workout session, or through helping a good cause by providing a willing workforce. I wish the GoodGym team every success and look forward to seeing the fruit of the runners’ work around the borough before too long.”
