No Leaves Remain!

Hackney Report written by Joel Wiles

22 buoyant Hackney GoodGymers ran a strong 5k to St Luke’s Church to clear the gardens of 35 full to the brim bags of leaves, 4 bags of little as well as a dash up the tower blocks to deliver 100 leaflets!

Another great turnout this week in Hackney!! Thank you all for coming along and welcome to our GG first timers for their maiden Run!

News Next week is Hackney GoodGym maybe Hackney’s longest serving members Antonia is running her Final session in Hackney before she moves up North. We will be going out of a drink at The Pub on the Park post Group run to Haggerston Park so would be great if you could join us!!

Saturday 26th sees us have a special ** Starter session** starting at 9:45 at Hackney Marshes Centre we will be visiting Tree Musketeers. Be great if you wanted to join us and maybe bring a friend to try out GG!!

Wanting to get our pulse rates, body temperatures up we took the long 3k loop around to St Luke’s this week throwing in a little Strength, balance and conditioning on Well Street Common.

Hopefully arming ourselves with a strong body to coup with the cold weather and maybe an increase in distance as we storm up the January Challenge leaderboard.

With a little extra bounce in our stride we bounded over to St Luke’s and got stuck straight in!

A simple task of see leaves, bag leaves lay in store and we were excellent at it!! Taking down the huge piles of leaves at speed! While the eagle eyes grabbed the litter from the gardens to get it looking ship shape!

30 minutes of epic action and we had piled the the leaves high and cleared both the gardens so they were looking great.

A 2k loop back to base taking in some of the less run GoodGym routes down the narrow way brought us back to base on time, well worked and after having a top time!!

Thank you all for coming along, see you next week for our return visit to Haggerston Park to finish off the wood chip viewing path of Hackney City Farm.

Have a great week!

Smooth Running

Curious? Zohra has just run their first session in another area. For that explorative spirit Zohra is awarded the scout badge. A Scout is trustworthy

Autumn Leaf(let)'s

Hackney Report written by Paul Bown

12 Goodgymers ran 5km to deliver 250 leaflets for St Lukes Church

Thanks for coming along guys, it was great to cover for Hackney once again.

In the news this week:

  1. Well done to Joel who smashed a 2.39 Marathon last Sunday in Abingdon! Amazing!
  2. Come along to the GoodGym Christmas Party on 1st December - dress up as something beginning with the first letter from your area - aka Harry Potter for Hackney.

After warming up and introducing ourselves we ran the long way to St Lukes Church, through Well Street Common and up through Homerton.

Upon our arrival on of the volunteers welcomed us, she showed us the refurbishment in the church and told us about the work they do, including; supporting the homeless and a foodbank.

St Lukes is having a lights festival on Thursday and it needs promoting - our job was to deliver 250+ leaflets in the surrounding area. We unfortunately weren't able to have the fob to let us into the flats so we ran around the streets targeting houses, first level flats and shops alike. We debated at one stage how it's weird to have holes in the front of your house...

Over 30 minutes we delivered all the leaflets and smashed the task - well done! Once we'd returned to London Fields we did an interval session - x90 seconds, progressing after 60 seconds from a steady to a faster pace.

Sign up here for next week when Joel is back.
