Dropped one on the way!

Woking Report written by Removed User

2 for the price of 1, for GG Woking members..... plus some heavy carries along the way!

Well done to GoodGym members for your top efforts last night! A big Welcome to Mandy who joined us for your first group run.... we look forward to seeing you again soon on more of our group runs! We hope you enjoyed last night!

Last night was a visit to the Food bank for some cleaning, not only was it a run there but GG member, Claud brought some food and bottles to take along. So with everyone armed with food and drink, off we went to Woking Town where the lighthouse is based. The light house is the home of the food bank and what a great job it does. A big thank you to Claud for thinking of the foodbank with your donations!

After helping with the cleaning in the foodbank we headed out onto the streets to hep spread the word for Home Start... the leaflets are to help let people know about home start and to make people aware of what they do and how they can help by becoming a volunteer.

next week

Please sign up to help out at the GG allotment.... I apologise for the lack of group runs on the website.... I am waiting for a few places to confirm we can help. Keep a look out and more will be added this weekend!

Goodluck

Good luck to any members training for the marathon season. I am racing all weekend so have a busy weekend of running. I hear James has picked up the pace so I look forward to racing with you soon ;) If you are keen on entering any races to help you train for something so you have a target - have a chat with myself or Nick and we can point you in the right direction.

See you next week Holly x

Anne's 50th!

Woking Report written by Removed User

There was no stopping Woking GoodGym last night!

Well done everyone - 8km in the bag! A fantastic improvement in everyones running pace last night! We ran to Brockhill Care Home, for a spot of painting. Brockhill are under going a major refurbishment and we started there last year and have been making our way round the corridors giving the walls a fresh coat of paint. They now have a new carpet on the way so we may be back to help finish off before it arrives. Last night there was no stopping us, we managed to just keep on going and didn't want to stop by the looks of it! It was also clear to see that none of us would of made it into the professional painting trade!

Anne's 50th!!

A big congratulations to Anne, who completed her 50th good deed!!! Another one in a black t-shirt - Yayyyyy!!!

Next week

We will be heading to the allotment (weather dependent) - please remember to sign up! Grab some friends and bring them along!

Happy New Year to Woking GG

Welcome back Woking members to a New Year, we hope you enjoyed the Christmas break. We are now back in action!! Tonight we started the year in the allotments, in was a fresh evening for it but we soon got warmed up! We also welcomed a new member to the group - A big hello and welcome to James McCloud!

We had a nice gentle jog to the allotments where we were given our task of the evening. We had a nice task of just turning over a community plot which needed a little TLC. We soon got to work and we zoomed through the allotment, with a few potatoes found and the soil now turned over we had the job done quickly. Team work makes the dream work.

We then headed for the dreaded hill for some Fartlek training. A gentle run down with an easy/sprint using the lamp posts for the way up. WIth the hill completed a couple of times and everyone working up a sweat and we were done (thank god), I could feel the pounds put on over the Christmas Season!

Next Week

We are heading to the RSPCA to help out in the staples. Remember to meet us there and not in Woking leisure Center.

Back to the FOOD BANK for Woking GoodGym

We were back last night at Woking's Foodbank and it was like we were never there. Another big delivery of donations from Tesco and Brookwood had been delivered and we had the task of organising the food into their different food groups.

We had Anne on Christmas duty, she had the job of organising the Christmas donations such as biscuits and chocolates. Lucky Wayne was there to help with the heavy lifting of the full crates. It was full steam ahead for everyone and we managed to clear the floor. From what was crates full of food to an empty space so they can get around the foodbank again.

We have one more to go until Christmas

Next week is a longer run and we will be heading down the canal so please remember a head torch!

Christmas Drinks

Also you may have noticed that there will be some Christmas drinks after the group run next week. On the way back to the meeting point we will stop off in town for a quick drink to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS

Remember to sign up for next weeks task so we know how many to expect.

Food Glorious Food!!!!!!!!!

Woking Report written by Removed User

Tonights Task was to help sort out all the food donations given to Woking Foodbank at The LightHouse.

What a fab evening that was. The foodbank is such a good cause and we got to see the hardwork and generosity of the local areas. We had a short jog to the lighthouse in town. We were greeted with a warm welcome form Alison - she looks after us well.

In the middle of the room was a big pile of crates which were filled with food and drink. All of it had been donated by local areas, with even more to be delivered. We had the task of sorting out the food and drink and getting them ready to stack the shelves once they start to empty. There was a wide selection of food and drink which had been donated and was great to see especially at this time of year.

The lighthouse is great place to go with so much going on to help others. They have so many activities and events that take place. It is well worth a visit. We look forward to going back in the new year to help out some more.

a big well done to everyone!!

Just two more weeks left at goodgym until Christmas. Make sure you get signed up for next week!!
