7 of us arrived at the last working Windmill in Central London, Brixton Windmill. After a demonstration of how to use the tools we got to work cutting down bushes and tidying the edges of the path. Daniel, Sarah and Nathan took the choppers and started attacking the overgrown shrubs from the inside. Me and Alex took a tiny saw each and started chopping branches from the outside. Tracey and Laura got to work on the edges of the path pulling off any overgrown grass. By the time we were finished we had a pile of branches higher than the original bush but the view to the Windmill was now clear and looked great. The paths looked fantastic and our last job was to mix the cut of pieces of grass and mud with water in front of all the benches to create a slurry puddle, we were assured this would turn into a strong grassy patch. The friends of Brixton Windmill were very happy with our work, so we all ran home for our tea!
4 of us met to help Brixton youth centre with some much needed leaf clearing. Most of us had done this task a million times so we knew what we were doing and we swept those leaves real good.
