Yorkie Trainer. Fan of irresponsibly signing up for races longer than I am capable of. Lover of all things York and Goodgym!
Group Fitness Activities
26 excellent GoodGymmers met on a pleasant Monday evening for this evening's group run.
👋🏼 We gave a huge welcome to Martin on his first GoodGym task.
🙌🏼 And if that wasn't enough, we had mega kudos to give to lots of runners who ran excellent races in both Kielder and Dalby Forest. *What a week! *
To the task
We were met at Willow House Garden by Rachel and her colleague who helpfully provided tools and bags.
"Get rid of everything"
🌿That was the instruction and we didn't need telling twice. There was some enthusiastic pruning (hacking?!), sawing, sweeping and even a bit of topiary! In half an hour, the area looked well-shorn and Rachel was very happy with the result.
📸 After a quick group photo, we did some game-based fitness, using the classic Rock, Paper, Scissors and Stuck in the Mud. Before we knew it, the walking and running groups were ready to head back for a cool down and stretch.
👏🏼 Back at base, a huge thank you was given to Michal for everything he's done as Area Activator, including through a beautiful card created by David. Further thank yous and catching up happened at the pub before we said our farewells and went our separate ways.
Thank you everyone for making my first group run as AA such a good one 👌🏼
Welcome to GoodGym York!
We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. Every Monday we meet to get active and do a physical task to help the charities or community organisations in our city.
WHERE WE MEET
We meet at the Priory Street Centre and our usual room is the Denham Room. As you approach the front of the Centre, turn right and go to the car park area. The room we use is locked whilst we're out so you can leave your bits and bobs in there. We will have a person at the door managing one in, one out system while dropping the bags etc. There is no requirement to wear a face mask when entering the building, as you will be there by yourself and only for a short period of time, but you can wear one if you feel more comfortable that way. 10 bay pay and display car park is available behind the nursery block, to the left as you approach front of the Centre. In addition on street parking is available on Priory Street.
A number of weeks ago we have cleared the Willow House car park area in readiness for the Archeology on Prescription project. Today we are going back to help clear another part of the garden for the archaeology project.
Please bring your gardening gloves.
RUNNING AND WALKING WITH US
GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities and if the task is close enough we have a walking group too. It's possible to walk to this task (1.5km each way). Walkers will leave at 18:25 promptly so please arrive in plenty of time.
We always have a back-marker too so nobody will get left behind - no matter what your pace is.
We will head to The Ackhorne Pub on St Martin's Lane after our run for a spot of liquid refreshment and a good chat. Please join us!
