Would you be-leaf that the parks of Cheadle were clean?

Tue 9 Nov
Report written by Sian Dobson Hughes

It may have been a drizzly Tuesday evening but our headtorches lit the way for our Cheadle Park Plogging and Jogging task.

The awesome foursome made our way on foot to the eery Abney Hall Park estate, ready to clean the park of any debris.

We searched amongst the leaves and brambles for any unwanted rubbish to collect and bin. The dark night, misty sky and gothic hall made for a great setting for ghost tales! We even unearthed a pet cemetery nestled between the house orchards.

Pete gave us the much awaited reviews of Dynasty - great fruity curry sauce but small portions! And as a standard, we discussed food, bake off and the protection of Kirsty's hair after wash night!

After filtering a bag of rubbish from the park, we headed back to complete our 7km group run.

And we left in great 'spirit'

Park plogging

Tue 9 Nov 18:00 pm
Life Leisure Cheadle, Shiers Dr, Cheadle, Stockport, SK8 1JR
Clean the streets in the local area

About GoodGym

We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every week to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations and projects across the Stockport region.

The Task

'Plogging' is the combination of running while collecting litter and began in Sweden in 2016. Our task is to combine plogging with a gentle park run around the local Cheadle area to keep the street free from litter.

The Run/Walk/Cycle

GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities. We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is.

We will meet at Life Leisure Cheadle at 6:00pm on Tuesday 9th November and plog the streets around Cheadle, collecting litter as we go!

As the nights are getting darker, bright clothing and head torches are advisable to remain visible.

Bring gloves and mask for indoor areas.

A de-lightful Tuesday Group Run

Tue 2 Nov
Report written by Sian Dobson Hughes

#RunBrightAtNight

This week's GoodGym Stockport group run was a de-lightful 10km circuit run in our loudest, proudest, brightest hi vis gear and headtorches.

With the clocks going back, the mornings darker and the nights drawing in, being visible while running is a certainly a 'bright idea' and we jumped at the chance to support #RunBrightAtNight campaign which was initiated by a follow Area Activator to raise awareness of running at night safety.

From luminous lime green to fluorescent flamingo coral, every spectrum of the hi vis colours were covered. Head (torches) over heels we ran, and even the infamous Dynasty lit the way home for us!

De - Lightful!
