Community Cape

Ruby earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Ruby completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Ruby was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Windmission accomplished

Lambeth Report written by Samantha

A gaggle of GoodGymmers arrived to help Brixton Windmill get ready for their reopening, especially now they have a snazzy new visitors centre!

This meant there were loads of tasks to do: - One pair set about hoeing back the grass and weeds growing on the entrance path. - A trio went to clear weeds in the park and some pesky ivy growing up the mural. - Another trio started cleaning some windows. - A quintet got to enjoy the delights of litter-picking to find treasure and invent tales of previous visitors (here's looking at you Rebecca and George!). - And an octet (yep, I Googled that) were inside the actual windmill to mop, hoover, dust and clean.

Getting started in the windmill took time because it was filled tetris-style with lots of bits and bobs. But a GoodGym human chain was no match for that and soon eight of us were inside and getting stuck in.

After an hour and a half, the playground and path were looking weed-free, the windows were glistening and the litter-pickers had filled over five bags and found a pair of pants, a ring and £1.20 among other things... However, the windmillers were nowhere to be seen! After some coaxing, they eventually emerged covered in dust and ready to put everything back inside (definitely not as easy as taking it all out).

Fingers crossed the windmill gets to open soon as we're super excited to see what's inside the visitors centre.

Ha ha! Don't worry - there's photo evidence of your good deedery! Did you get a 'Mission accomplished' email? Might be in your junk mail - you just have to click that you were there. Failing that, I'll see if I can Mark to add you as I don't know how :o/

Ohhh... I had no idea that was the system. I never check my emails. My bad! Thanks.
