GoodGym Runner

Pauline Moore has done their first good deed with GoodGym.

Pauline is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Haringey Report written by Pritesh Mistry

Eight wonderful GoodGym-ers joined me and ran 2km to help out the Friends of Tottenham Green.

Our lovely group met at Tottenham Green Pool and Leisure centre – that last time I had been up here was back in January so it was great to see everyone as I began my two week guest slot as Haringey trainer.

Once everyone had gathered we went outside and had a quick intro, mentioned the goodgym-wide social and then we were ready to go. With only a short run planned I was going to forego the warm up but the group wanted to warm up and so I delegated to Sarah who led everyone on a short warm up!

It’s definitely 1km

Julie kindly led from the front and I backmarked as we took a ‘quick’ run around the block. I’d promised everyone it was roughly 1km… turns out it was closer to two… Sorry!

Once back to the green we met Laura who was ready with many tools and devices for the tasks for the night. We were working on the eastern green this evening so we gathered everything and crossed over to the other side. The jobs for us tonight:

  • Sweeping around the benches and a general litter pick (Oliver and Alex)
  • Litter picking around the play area (Nurjehan)
  • Chopping down of Hollyhock (Pauline)
  • Collecting Hollyhock seeds (Sarah and Abi)
  • Artistic topiary (Julie and Ritu)

Everyone worked hard and top marks do have to go to our topiary specialists – check out Billy the Bison and Ella the Elephant in the pictures above!

With the light fading we pulled everyone back, tidied up and got everything safely back to other side of the green! With the fading light the temperature dropped and Sarah took charge again to lead a quick circuit session to warm everyone up. Steps, tricep dips, squats and planks were the order of the day! Thank you again Sarah.

With a group photo done, a quick stretch and a couple of notices regarding the Haringey social in two week (sorry to miss it) and Finsbury parkrun (run it or volunteer) we were done!

Thanks for having me and I’ll be back next week if you want more. It’s a longer run, 4km in total, sign up here.

Cheers,
Pritesh
