One ton’s no t-rubble

Bristol Report written by Melanie Young (she/her)

What better way to start a Monday than a rubble-rousing workout - a one ton sack of rubble needed moving from point A to point B (hopefully it’ll need moving again at some stage) which meant wheelbarrows galore!

With a streamlined production line of filling, moving and emptying the wheelbarrows, we’d shifted the lot in 45 minutes and we’re on our way to work 😁

Festive fairies

Bristol Report written by Alice Dalrymple

We had a lovely time at Eastville park this morning selling Christmas trees, moving grotto decorations back into the try and making sure the battery powered candles were working to go in the garden.

It was great to be back supporting the Friends of Eastville park and all profits from the Christmas tree sale will go back into supporting their work.

We will be back next week for more festive fun!

Knock knock Who’s there? Kanya..., Kanya who? Kanya help me find a Christmas tree.

Bristol Report written by Meg

Unloaded two trucks of Xmas trees...then measured the trees and sorted them into piles. They are now ready for sale tomorrow. 3ft, 4ft, 5ft, 6ft and yes even 7ft trees this year!!

The masked two-spaders

Bristol Report written by Melanie Young (she/her)

Christmas is just around the corner (ish) and the Friends of Eastville Park needed some help getting all their festive kit together, and separating indoor (not much good this year) from outdoor (fingers crossed) and working from not working.

Six mini Christmas trees later, Meg was full of Christmas spirit, Jason had added to previous weeks' leaf collecting, Melanie and Pauline had worked out the extra bits needed to fix the multiple sets of lights and Roz had carried sleigh and reindeer into the warm.

Hopefully there'll soon be some Christmas cheer spreading through the park, or four masked crusaders scaring the local children!

An urgent trans-“plant”

Bristol Report written by Bristol runner

This was a big task helping Square Food Foundation with the relocation of its garden to a new location so that they can continue growing food and using the garden for food education. Four runners cleared allotment beds of weeds and grass and shifted a few tons of soil into the beds over the course of two hours. Let’s pause there and think about that for a second...just a few tons! This was a true GoodGym workout!

This also may rank as one of our muddiest tasks yet, with rain adding some extra weight to the soil for good measure. We were kept on task by Lily the Jack Russell and her owner. By the end, we were quite the sight, but pleased with the tidy beds ready for planting.
