Khara completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Khara was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Collecting, sorting and storing bags for the Run For All Leeds Half Marathon

Sun 5 Sep
Report written by Gemma

Bright and early on Sunday morning, 6 GoodGym Leeds members made their way over to the First Direct Arena to help with baggage collection and storage for the Run for All Leeds Half Marathon. The morning started at 7:45 with a briefing, followed by a few hours of bag collection, sorting and redistribution.

The GoodGym members worked with other volunteers to collect the bags. Damu supported a team of other volunteers on one truck, with Robert and Gemma working with two other volunteers to store bags for runners, and Helen, Anna and Khara working together on another truck to collect and store bags.

It was brilliant to be able to offer support to keep the event moving. Well done to everyone - especially as it was a very early start! A big cheer goes out to Khara who made her GoodGym debut!

Help at Kirkstall Valley Farm

Sat 11 Sep 10:00 am
Kirkstall Valley Farm , Behind Ready Steady Store, Kirkstall Road, Leeds, LS4 2QD
Help the farm to grow good quality, affordable veg for the local community.

Kirkstall Valley Farm are working hard to provide a reliable supply of affordable veg to the local community, grown in an environmentally friendly way.

We have been asked to help on the farm. There will be a grower on site to direct us and to give us the tools we need. The tasks that we will be helping with are likely to involve either weeding, or wheelbarrowing materials.

Meet outside the tractor shed, just on your left as you come in

If you have them, bring gardening gloves as there are nettles and thistles. Please also be aware of uneven surfaces, heavy materials, vehicles moving around the site and any sharp tools.

As the farm is located on Kirkstall Road it makes for a good run/ walk/ cycling stop. If convenient, meet up at Hyde Park Book club to run/ jog/ walk or cycle to this task.

Support with the Leeds 10km and HM

Sun 5 Sep 07:45 am
Elmwood Close , Leeds, LS2 8BY
Enable more people to run across Leeds

On Sunday 5th September, from 7:45am-1pm, we've been asked to help at the baggage area of the Run for All races.

We will meet at Elmwood Close, LS2 8BY. This is the street behind the First Direct arena (where the baggage area will be on the day)

If we can get 15 people together to support, GoodGym, will be given £150 - so it would be fab if we can get lots of people involved!

If you are keen to help but cannot commit to the whole time, please still sign up and let me (Gemma) know your time availability.
