Renovate good times, come on! (Let's renovate)

Sheffield Report written by Sam Needham

Welcome to new runner Mike Smith! Give him a cheer!

We headed for another return visit to Abbeydale Picture House, whereupon we split into groups to carry out a variety of RENOVATION tasks:

  • Painting
  • Glossing
  • Scraping
  • Moving
  • Hammering

Thanks to SUPER STEVE for organising things there.

On the way back we stopped for some FITNESS, starting with some BOX JUMPS before pairing up for QUADRUPLE TROUBLE. A repeat (on a grander scale) of last weeks meet & retreat paired exercise where pairs started at opposite ends, met in the middle for a high 5 and ran back to their start point to complete 10 reps of an exercise before sprinting back to meet their partner for another high 5 and the next exercise.

  • Press ups
  • Burpees
  • Squats
  • Sit ups

On the last leg to base at the Showroom we squeezed in a couple of SPRINTS too.

Well done to HEROIC HELEN for reaching 50 good deeds. There is now a bow tie to commemorate the achievement. She was the first lucky recipient to wear it!

I reached 100 good deeds, and as such got to lead the session sporting the Sheffield GG angel wings and winged helmet ensemble.

All Sust Out

Sheffield Report written by Tom Mutton

A HUGE welcome to new runners for this week, give em a whoop hola and cheer;

A hilly route out awaited us this week to help out SUSTRANS with the upkeep of the National Cycle Network (NCN), a UK wide network of largely traffic free paths helping people to make more sustainable travel choices to walk and cycle and explore their local environment rather than drive.

On the way out we had the opportunity to do a few loop backs to keep the group together and arrive at the task location in the MARVELOUS MANOR where we were met with tools at the ready and received our brief for the evening activities which would be cutting and clearing the entrance area of a part of the NCN that had become overgrown and made the entrance to the site less appealing to potential users.

As we were a bit light on tools we got our fitness in whilst we were smashing the task. Crack teams of 6 paired up for a super quick TRIPPLE TROUBLE Meet & Retreat paired exercise where pairs started at opposite ends, met in the middle for a high 5 and ran back to their start point to complete 10 reps of an exercise before sprinting back to meet their partner for another high 5 and the next exercise. The Three this week were;

  1. Press Up's
  2. Squats
  3. Burpees

Once we had wrapped up we had a quick video session with expert film maker ROB who is gathering footage for a short @GGSHEFF promo video so keep your eyes peeled!

The return leg was all down hill and our stretches this week had an interesting addition of some nearby folk who loved the opportunity of a quick stretch before their next round at the bar.
