Mission Possible

Jack Munn completed their first weekend mission.

Jack has forgone the usual weekend routine. Instead of lie-ins, roasts and strolls around the park Jack has dropped everything to run a GoodGym mission for someone who needed help. Respect

'What is a Quince?'

Hackney Report written by Peter Van Tongeren

After a lovely stroll around the marshes and a refreshing drink a smiling & cheerful bunch of Goodgymmers descended on the base of the Tree Musketeers to lend a hand with moving a sizeable compost heap & general tasks around the place. There are suspicions that the mentioning of a quincy crumble did have a positive impact on the numbers showing up...

After a little welcome and putting bags away at their base (noticing the few notice boards with useful messages!) the team got stuck in. Some started clearing the target area getting it ready for the new compost heap, others started digging up the old one and wheeling the compost towards the new space. Ros kept the hard working crew entertained with a pop quiz, some examples: #1 'How many people are in space at the moment?' (guesses varied from 8 to 150) #2 what movie featured the quote 'What is a Quince?' answers to both are below.

After an hour or so of hard graft, there was a well deserved reward in the shape of a quince crumble! It was no surprise that the plate was cleaned out soon after it was mentioned nothing was allowed to be left behind, with Ivan showing his quince expertise with advice on how to prepare them - any questions / requests for recipes - do pick his brain on the next group run! ;-) With a little scavenge for fruit on the way out, the team split and each went their own way, happy with another good deed done and friendships made/renewed.

As always, I am bound to make mistakes with the attendance record, I will try and remember a sign in sheet next time, honestly! Please correct me where needed.

With every last Saturday of the month being a Tree Musketeers activity day, perhaps this is a format to be repeated in the near future? let me know how you guys feel about making it a monthly Hackney Marshes ParkRun / Tree Musketeers adventure and we'll see what we can do!
