Rain Rain Go Away Come Again Another Day..!!!!!

Woking Report written by Removed User

This evening was our first GG Groups Run in over a year and it was great running together as a group.

We met at WWF and started to run along the canal towards St John’s. We welcomed back Adam who has been away for a few months during the lockdown. With litter pickers in hand we headed off at the time it was dry and James came up with a suggestion that whenever we find rubbish 10 press up’s had to be done. It wasn’t long until we were all doing pushing 10 with Anne showing the boys how it was done.💪🏼

As we got to the first bridge the heavens opened and there was an apocalyptic downpour ⛈ but the James who was full of suggestions this evening said we should run through the storm to the next bridge which was around the corner, little did we know that the bridge James was referring to had nowhere to shelter we all where soaked through. Adam kept doing his push up’s and star jumps whenever litter was picked up. After running through huge puddles we got to St John’s bridge when finally the rain stopped. We disposed the litter that we picked up along the way in the bins and headed back.

James and Adam very competitive as always trying to out sprint each other, quite funny watching them two. 🏃🏼‍♂️

Next Week we are at the RSPCA weeding in the dog enclosure

Have a nice 'Dahlia'

Woking Report written by Removed User

Girl Power at Brookwood Station

Last night Woking GG Members were in full Girl Power!

We continued on to make Brookwood Station Blooming. We first set off to work putting together the Compost Bin. With so many weeds to get rid of, it was much needed!

A few months ago I planted some Dahlia tubers in pots, these were now getting rather big and were ready to explode with colour. We decided to make the platform a more enjoyable place. With Rosemary taking over the planters, we gave it a tidy up and planted some Dahlias and Verbenas. The station manager will then water them the next morning.

After the platform planters we then all headed back out to the front to tackle the weeds out the front. Its nice to see some of the flowers we had planted earlier have now come out and you can see in a few more weeks there will be burst of colour outside brookwood station.

Next week

Next week we are heading out along the canal for a litter pick. In the next couple of weeks - keep a look out on the website for some exciting new group runs!

Woking Report written by Wayne

This evening we headed to Pyrford Church Of England School where we had to tackle a huge bramble bush. We were joined by Rebecca from GG Wandsworth who was in the area for the week. When we saw the bush we had to tackle we thought we had a good few hours of work but with the right tools and James expert gardening knowledge we split up in two teams and tackled the bush from each end. Becky & Harriot scooped up all the brambles that had been cut and disposed them into the skip. A member of the school staff was on site and was amazed how much we done. Refreshing watermelon was provided  and it went down a treat. Once we where satisfied with our evening shift we cleared away the tools and headed off the the Anchor along the river for a well deserved drink and some food.

This Sunday Woking Junior Park Run are looking for marshals

The day after we received an email from the school.

Hi GG Team, Just wanted to sat a great BIG ' THANK YOU' to you all for the great job you did last night. It's very much appreciated and makes the school environment o much nicer for everyone.

Follow the clue and things will look like new!

Woking Report written by Becky Fry

7 GoodGym-ers spent a lovely evening tonight doing some sweeping, weeding and raking in the gardens at Brockhill Care Home. Arriving to a note with clues of where to find the tools was a fun way to start the task, alongside some water which was appreciated by those who ran along the canal to get to the mission! We divided and conquered a number of the flower beds and made some great progress - lots of hands make light work!

Woking Report written by Removed User

Last night at GoodGym - Woking showed off their agility skills at the RSPCA.

It was lovely to see the dogs getting involved at GG and what a place for them to play. Indie and Bodhi had a great time finding all the toys in the Dog agility compound.

We started off the session with a beautiful loop around the fields of the RSPCA. The pregnant horse from our last visit was now in the field with her foal.

Last night involved tidying up the Agility dog compound, the weeds and brambled had started to take over the edge of the compound. We all did an amazing job and managed to almost clear the entire compound. Everyone was in good spirits and it was nice to see so many friendly faces.

Well done to James and Wayne who competed in the Brutal running event last weekend. It clearly wasn't too Brutal as they are signing up to the next event in August, if anyone fancies joining them, have a chat with them next week about it.

Next week we will be at Brockhill - Lets hope the rain stays away.

This weekend there is a hill training session run by Wayne if anyone is keen then get in touch.
