Planter / Party
It was a game of two half yesterday. Starting proceedings off we were tasked with a bit of planter building for the folks of Wood Street South Gardening Club. A few mishaps along the way, hampered our progress as we lacked the necessary tools and materials to complete the task. Nevertheless, our resourceful A-Team of volunteers pulled together and with what we had still managed to assemble a planter and to transport a significant amount of soil into place ready for us to hit the ground running next week when we return to continue this project.
After this cold comfort, we all dashed back to the more salubrious surroundings of Mirth Marvel and Maud for our much anticipated and richly deserved Christmas party. Thanks go to Clara and Pippa for organising such a fab night and even preparing an award ceremony that beautifully punctuated the evening. Thanks also go to the mega generosity of Raymond and Ercole who lavished us with drinks!
I'm not sure how this evening ended, but I left a merry crowd at about 10.30 pm, so I hope there are a few sore heads today.
We are back at the same task next week although I will check ahead with a few stipulations to make sure they are ready for us. Sign up here and see you there

Bunting Making at The Mill (week 1/2)

Welcome to GoodGym Waltham Forest! We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every week to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations and projects in our area.
The Task: We are back at one of the best and brightest community centres in London. The Mill has been an essential and hugely popular hub for the folks of Walthamstow for many years. With Christmas coming they will be getting into the spirit of the season with some festive bunting and our job is to help make it. This will be a fun, indoor, creative and social task so be sure not to miss out
The Run/walk: The Mill is only about 1km from Mirth so after our task, we will be heading out for a few extra KMs of fartlek training. This will be an inclusive workout that everyone can participate in. There will also be a walking option
GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities and it is often possible to walk to the task if you would prefer. We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is.

Helping at live screenings of The Snowman

East London Brass (a brass band based in Walthamstow) are doing screenings of The Snowman whilst playing the soundtrack live.
They need our help with setting up the venue, directing people to seats and tidying etc between screenings. We did this last year and it was really fun!
Lunch and soft drinks will be provided.
They'd like us there between 9am-5:30pm if possible, so I've suggested the following shifts:
9-11:30am, 11:30am-1:30pm, 1:30pm-3pm, 3pm-5:30pm.
Please comment below which shifts you're available for (or if you'd like to do a different couple of hours from those I've suggested, that's absolutely fine!)
Thank you very much :)
