Mamma Mia, HARE I GoGo again, mymy how much I missed cleaning ya

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

Tonight was the return of cleaning the GoGoHares for Break Charity on yet another lovely sunny evening in Norwich.

We welcomed the lovely Kerry and Hassan on their 1st GoodGym adventure.

30 GoodGym Norwich members completed Run Norwich 10km yesterday so we did a round of applause for those who ran and volunteered.

Bobby and Brad were on their 10 good deed and Darren on his 25th good deed!!!

After the warm up I split everyone into 4 groups with a list of GoGoHares to clean, a map and a hare care kit. The aim was to meet at Chapelfield Gardens before 7.50pm for a quick sprint session... this was a FAIL.

I joined group 3 for a while just to make sure they weren't going to waste time to avoid doing the sprint session. Along the way even members of the public wanted to take photos of us with the GoGoHares... so it was time to get the gun show out.

I left group 3 halfway through (I think I was starting to annoy them haha) and went to Chapelfield Gardens eagerly awaiting everyone... and then stumbled across group 4 in the playing area and they hadn't even cleaned all their GoGoHares yet - so I put them through their sprint session there and then before they could go and finish the job they should be doing.

Group 1 came and met me and did their sprint session and then we headed back to The Forum and what a surprise group 3 were there waiting (so I made them sprint to the end of the road and back haha).

Group 2 turned up 10 minutes late (the irony) but still gave them the orders... funnily enough a photo later emerged of them in the pub... great way to avoid your sprint session ;-)

I clearly got the impression everyone wasn't up for the sprint session tonight haha but it was still great fun and everyone did a fantastic job.

There's some cracking photos so enjoy.

Next week we're off to Eaton Park.

Not a distance for the paint-hearted, the smiles of the elderly made it worth while, plus we got fed and watered

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

Another fantastic turnout tonight, not bad considering it was 30 degrees earlier and we had over 10km to run... but that was not going to stop 32 GoodGym-ers doing what they do best... helping their community.

The task was visiting a Redmayne View Care Home to do some painting and also to spend some time chatting and befriending the residents. I have to say some of my favourite ever GoodGym photos were seeing our runners sitting and chatting to the residents so be sure to check them all out.

We had another 5 new runners tonight so welcome to Tara, John, Rhianna, Richard and Nicolas.

After I stitched Calum up to do the warm-up while I put my bag indoors, we headed off to the task with Katy being back runner. One thing I sure learned tonight was that everywhere north of the city seems to be uphill!

There's nothing better than after a long run to arrive to some lovely refreshments kindly put on for us by Redmayne View. After a quick recovery break it was time to get stuck in. Some of our runners had sat down with some of the residents, some went upstairs to do the painting while the rest did some weeding outside... and Maddy went for a little walk with resident Tony.

We changed some of the painters half way through then after 30 minutes (which equates to 16 hours of volunteer time!) we got ready for the journey back to The Forum.

A really special task completed.

Next week we have two tasks to do between the group... both about 10km in total.

S'weden and gardening this week, 2 tasks in the back of the net then it's running home, it's running home

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

Hats off to Darren for the pun this week. It was a tight call between that and...

Oh my, look at the girth of that wood.

There were 2 tasks tonight. Myself and the bulk of the group were heading to Cooper Lane Scout Hut to help clear a fallen tree (see where the other pun idea came from) and Catherine took a small group to Grapes Hill Community Garden to help them prep for Norwich in Bloom.

We had 5 new runners this evening in Kevin, Maddy, Zara, Martin and Didier.

A good warm up was needed before both groups headed off, for some reason it felt really cold last night after weeks of glorious warmthness.

So it was time to say an emotional farewell to the smaller group as we embarked on routes on opposite sides of the city for the evening.

My group seemed to fly by on one of our quickest journeys... we found out why later as on the way back it all seemed to be uphill!

We arrived at Cooper Lane Scout Hut and Alun had tools already laid out by a large fallen tree, the job was to chop and break it up and move it to a different area. It took no time at all for the GoodGym-ers to be in full swing and there was wood flapping about left, right and centre.

I turned my back for 1 minute and in that time Jack managed to trip over and land butt-down in some stinging nettles... ouchy, but as always he took it like a man.

The smaller group on the other hand were enjoying doing some weeding and a litter pick and were also treated some lovely refreshments.

We arrived back about 5 minutes later than them but Beks took them through some Yoga.

Next week we're visiting Redmayne View Care Home.

How do you clean under a GoGoHare? Either Leveret or Hitch it up

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

Tonight's run was part of Coops Fortnight and the job in hand was to go and clean each of the 50 GoGoHares that are scattered across the city centre.

It was quite an emotional evening as it was Tom and Sarah's final good deed before they jet off to New Zealand for their future lives. It's been a pleasure having you both with us and you will be greatly missed by everyone.

We had 5 new runners this week in Jacob, David, Fleur, Kate & Cyrus.

A well done to Sam and Jack on doing their 10th good deed this evening.

I did then make the group aware that we had a photographer at the start taking photos for an EDP article and it wasn't just a random guy taking photos of everyone haha.

After the warm up the 35 GoodGym-ers were put into 6 groups and allocated certain GoGoHares to clean from the plan I'd made earlier, luckily I did make a plan otherwise they could have ended up running anywhere! Each group had around 8-9 GoGoHares to clean between them to cover the whole 50. One group headed to Riverside area, one to the Catholic Cathedral area, one to the Norwich Cathedral area, one to the Norwich Museum area, one around The Forum and the other around Chapelfields.

After all the groups set off I was stuck between the decision of going to watch the football down the pub (jokes) or try and find each group... I headed to the train station with the photographer to get some photos of the Coop sponsored GoGoHare then stumbled across 2 of the groups on my way back.

Once all the groups returned I beasted them through a fitness session (to help burn off the calories consumed at the GoodGym Norwich 1st BBQ party yesterday), which was our 1st for a while and we finished with a stretch.

Another great task was completed. Enjoy the photos of the GoGoHares.

Next week we have 2 tasks to do!
