At last we have our paintings up in Firstsite 🖼
Tonight's community mission was all about helping make an area smarter and more presentable to the vistors at Firstsite.
Eddie gave us the brief of going round the large room and painting over any areas on the walls that were in need of a bit of TLC.
We set about the task with our usual GoodGym gusto.
Everyone was pleased to see each other and catch up on each other's lives.
We are blessed to have such a fine group of people in GoodGym Colchester.
Thank you to Catherine for the the title of the report and Rosalind for taking some of the photos.
Finally thank you everyone for coming this evening and helping making a difference.
Regards,
Ian

A trip does not mask our smiles...
Tonights task was a summary of all the good things that Goodgym Colchester represent. A group of like-minded individuals uniting to form an efficient, cheerful and focussed team. A simple cleaning task that makes a difference to Level Best Art Cafe and the people they support so that they are a little bit more comfortable.
Kudos to Detti who and a muddy slip on her run to the task as she ploughed on in the true spirit of Goodgym.
Ben vacuumed, Dan and Detti made the kitchen shine, Naomi focused on the skirting boards and surfaces whilst Mikaela had the glamorous job of toilet and bathroom cleaning and I mopped mostly!
Rookery House is a pleasant, conveniently located and interesting building and a good spacious area that is used as a great option instead of the cafe.
There is plenty still going on this month and beyond as Goodgym Colchester's search for a new leader (Area Activator) continues.
Goodgym is the place to make new friends, make a true and tangible difference to the local area, learn a lot of new skills and do it all in as much safety as possible. The colder, darker and wetter nights are something to look forward with goodgym...as well as the weekend missions in daylight.

Painting at Firstsite 🖌

Eddie from Firstsite very much appreciated us helping him out with the D-Lawn a few weeks ago and says the space looks amazing now.
He would now love some help painting the studios.
To maintain social distancing the plan is to separate into 2 groups to work in different areas .So one group of 6 in studio 1 and 1 group of 6 in studio.
Hence there is a limit of 12 people for this community mission.
Eddie will meet us outside Firstsite and a take each group in separately.
As its painting perhaps best not to wear you best running gear.😄
Any queries please let me know. Thanks Ian

The Best fun is Good(Gym) clean fun.

Level Best have another premises aside from their Culver Street East Cafe. It is in need of a Goodgym clean up!
It is an indoor task and therefore numbers are limited and we will work to a strict timescale. Please wear PPE (face masks and gloves) and bring anti-bac.

What runs but never walks? Water!
Straight away I must say a big thank you to everyone for coming along tonight. It wasn't a great evening weather wise and as we were about to leave the rain became very heavy.
Anyway onto the report-welcome to Alistair for his first evening with GoodGym,it was good to see you Alistair.
Also Katherine made her first appearance in her black t shirt after reaching 50 Good Deeds recently.
Pam explained what she wanted doing and we set about the task with the usual GoodGym gusto.
We swept and cleaned up all around the fountain and removed alot of excess Ivy from around the outskirts of the area.
As always on a GoodGym evening there was plenty of chat and good humour. As always everyone was pleased to see each other.
I think it's fair to say we made a significant improvement to the area and Pam was certainly pleased with our evenings work.
Thank you once again for coming along tonight.

Tidying up the Middleborough Fountain

The Fountain at Middleborough needs a good tidy up, so it's time for GoodGym Colchester to give it some TLC. Please bring a head torch 🔦 with you along with your own gloves. I have set the limit at 12 people as its a relatively small area. Please meet at the bottom of North Hill at 6:45pm. Any questions please contact me. Regards Ian

It's Bin Good 🥰
Another Wednesday evening and another community mission for GoodGym Colchester.
Welcome to Mikaela for her first time with GoodGym Colchester.Mikaela is a experienced GoodGym member having done nearly 25 Good Deeds with GoodGym Hounslow.Loveley to have you with us and hope to see you again soon.
It was also a noteable evening for James as it was his 10th Good Deed with GoodGym Colchester.Well done James.
We met Eddie the Site Manager at Firstsite and collected the various tools we needed.
Eddie asked us to cut down any branches from the trees that were below head height on the 'D' Lawn ,along with picking up any litter we found.
Everyone set about the task in good spirit and within an hour we had filled up 2 wheelie bins with branches and twigs.
As the rain started to get heavier we said our goodbyes and headed off into the night.
Credit goes to Andy for tonights report title, thanks Andy !!

Tidying The 'D' Lawn at Firstsite

Eddie ,the Operations Manager at Firstsite would like our support to clean up the D-Lawn as we have done in the past, especially the trees at head height etc. Eddie will have some cutting tools but if people can bring some that would help and also avoid surface contact issues.
As the evenings are drawing in it might be wise to bring a head torch !
Please meet outside Firstsite for 6:45pm.
Thank you ,
Ian
