Jan Virtual Social with Goats and Pictionary!

After a successful, fun Christmas party on Gather, we will be meeting on this website again. All are welcome! Come visit the new additions of goats and their animal friends. Work out how to get a goat selfie! There are more games to try including the popular pictionary.
Gather is a fun, virtual world which you can wander around. When you are near someone/people on the map you can see their video and can have a normal conversation. This means we don't need to try and have a massive group chat where only one person chats but we can talk in smaller groups!
The Technical Part
It is easy to use as long as you can open it on the computer on chrome. It even provides you with a few instructions when you log in.
Basic tips:
-You must allow microphone and camera when you first click on the link for your video to work
-Use arrow keys to move around the park
-At the bottom of the screen there is a map you can click on to see where you are
-If you click on the list of people on the left hand side, you can click on locate on map to find them and join them.
-You can send a message to the whole group if you want everyone to know something..
It is all pretty self explanatory.

GoodGym Camden's End of Year Quiz & Scavenger Hunt!

So it's finally time to kick 2020 out the door and look forward to better times; the vaccine, life to slowly restart again and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris move into the White House.
What better way to do that than an End of Year quiz and scavenger hunt with GG Camden?! There'll be music, there'll be little fitness challenges, there'll be trivia.
It's been a year. Let's celebrate the better moments together.
We'll kick off at 7:30 and it should wrap up by 9/9:30.
Would be lovely to see as many faces as possible and I hope to see you there! (You don't have to be a Camdener to join in the fun)
I'll email round the Zoom link a few days before.
Happy Christmas!

Crumb Report
After a brief hiatus, the Saturday Morning Coffee Time sessions have returned for lockdon number 2 (every Saturday, on Zoom, at 10am). Open to all Goodgymmers up for a chat over breakfast, coffee or brunch!
Trainer Simon launched up the Zoom Chat, and met was first met with Caz, prepared with coffee in hand! She will be moving to Bristol in the next few months, so GG Bristol folks, please make her welcome! John Shirley then popped up online after running a local 5km loop- a great personal achievement as he is currently coming back from injury. Patrick joined us too, who is also planning on attempting a #notparkrun in Finsbury Park later in the day. Caroline logged in from her new location in Hackney, now with plenty of space for yoga and workouts, and Steve Lee joined us from his office, surrounded by plans of action for future design work. We were most excited about James, our resident baker, signing in, and seeing what he was creating this morning. We were not disappointed, as pulled out a tray of delicious looking Nordic buns from the oven live over Zoom, and proceeded to demonstrate how to create a perfect consistency for breakfast bread! We were all super jealous (and of Caz's amazing pile of pancakes created later in the day!).
Great to catch up with everyone, and will certainly be looking forward to hearing from you all next week!

I don't beLEAF it!
10 Goodgym folks switched on their headtorches, and made their way to Thornhill Square Gardens tonight. Trainer Simon lead a social run to the park with Jackie and John Shirley, covering just over a mile across Islington. We were also joined by Anne, who had briefly returned to London from Scotland, and completed her 150th good deed this evening!
We were greeted by Anna, the resident gardening volunteer, who put us straight to work. Our main objective was to fill most of the flower beds with mulch and compost- doing the heavy lifting for the local gardening group to complete at a later date! We had two pairs of runners loading up wheelbarrows full of bark and mud, and tipping the contents across the beds.
A small team of Goodgymmers were tasked with raking and collecting up all of the fallen leaves from the access paths and from the beds themselves. Two huge skip bags were required to hold all of the green waste collected! Elsewhere, we positioned our portable spotlights in place to allow people to do some weeding by torch light, picking out some stubborn intruders from the rose beds.
We did a smashing job over the course of an hour, and Anna has invited us back as soon as we safely can. Hopefully this will be sooner rather than later!

More mulch for Thornhill Square Gardens

Thornhill Square Gardens
We will meet Anna, one of the Friends of Thornhill Square Gardens at the site, who will have an array of gardening tasks for us!
Definitely going to be moving some newly delivered mulch and bark for the rose beds. And likely to be watering plants, trimming bushes and litter picking too.
Social Run with Trainer Simon*
Trainer Simon will be running to the task from the Packington Gallery on Prebend Street. You can leave bags here if you like. Sign up here:

Not for the paint of heart!
5 GoodGymers ran up to Ashdown Crescent Sheltered Living on Wednesday night to help out repainting some of the centre's furniture.
Luckily the rain had stopped before we arrived, so we could paint in peace. It turns out it's better to paint from the bottom up and not the other way round - we know for next time!
A lovely night :)
