On a crisp Sunday morning, GoodGymers David and Anthony were out in Tower Hamlets helping regular mission provider Ms Z sort through and get rid of things from her attic.

The first task was to get everything out of the attic. It was a case of Narnia meets Dr Who as each box we uncovered took us further back in time and further afield in space. We pushed on and out it all came: two old radiators, an assortment of china, the complete works of Mozart, possibly the first TV ever sold, and even the kitchen sink (well a dishwasher tray if truth be told).

Once we had finally dealt with the (model) elephant (foot) in the room, and by now with a four-strong feline fan club to cheer us home, we sprinted down the finishing straight that was sorting through what was to be kept, what was to be binned, what might go to a new home, and what we were to put back in the attic for the next lucky explorers. GoodGymers… watch this space.

We left with dust on our clothes, aches in our shoulders, but above all fond memories in our heads and Ms Z’s thanks, cheerful conversation and well wishes in our ears. She made a point of letting us know what a help it had been, what a good idea GoodGym is, and how much she was looking forward to having Goodgymers around to help her get the Christmas lights up again this year.

Lofty praise indeed!
