24 amazing runners ran 6km to refill the flower bed with soil at Charlton Community Garden!

Breaking records or broken record??!!

So once again we broke the Greenwich record yesterday for our amazing turnout, and I probably sound like a broken record myself saying that, but it's AWESOME!!! 7 first timers - Paula, Dumitru, Rachel, George, Chester, Stella & new GoodGym Bexley trainer, Tim! GIVE THEM A CHEER!! And well done to Muinat & Christian bringing their friends along! Hope you all had a good time, and I owe you both some red laces!!! I'll bring them next week :)

We were lucky that it had just finished raining - although we do have some kind of rain immunity in Greenwich (it's rained for me once in 8 months!!), but it was still pretty wet and miserable which is why I was so shocked (but happy!) that so many people showed up, AMAZING!

We started as we always did with a little warm up and then split into two groups to allow those with a little more speed in their legs to challenge themselves a bit more whilst the rest of us went at our own steady pace! Alex led the front group, he knew where he was going after he nearly got lost going there last time :P

We arrived at Charlton station 3km later and were greeted by 3 lovely ladies - Pat, Maria and Ben's mum! The gardening club had done what needed doing with the flower bed over the weekend so it was ready to have all the soil go back in! And with 24 people on hand, that didn't take much time at all. Half of the group got to work while I took the other half for a quick little fitness session round the corner with the view to switch people half way through but it was done in a flash anyway! We all gathered together for a group photo and then made our way back towards Greenwich.

Squats and sprints!

We arrived at the uni and everyone paired up for some relays. Person number 1 sprinted to the pillar and back, meanwhile person number 2 did some nice low squats for however long it took their partner to arrive back and then they switched... over and over again! 4 minutes later and we called it a night, just in time for Ben P, Muinat and Stella to arrive back. It was Stella's first ever run... and she did 6km! Nice one!!

We collected our bags and indulged in some yummy flapjacks that the lovely ladies made for us - now that I think of it, maybe THAT was the reason why the turnout was so high last night... their cakes are amazing!!

Thanks so much for coming everyone! Apologies that there wasn't a huge amount for you all to do last night but well done for getting so stuck in and working so quickly and effectively! Hope to see you all next week! Oh and for those of you on Facebook, here is our Facebook Group with all of the Parkrun details! We will be going to Mile End so please register and come along, it'll be a great morning! Hopefully see you Saturday, if not then see you next week!
