Ealing

Mission

You bet your boots I'm going to Boots!

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Ealing.

Today's mission for Ms N started with a question: what actually is GoodGym? Ms N's friend recently asked her where the gym is and she was not sure what to answer. I revealed the idea behind GoodGym so that residents of Ms N's community are not concerned about a secret order of masked people in red running around their neighbourhood (although I liked the thought of that alternative).

Ms N announced that today, apart from the usual list, she would have something special to buy - a custom hair colouring product. It didn't seem to me that those kinds of items could be found in South Ealing. "You can check the pharmacy", Ms N said, "Boots may have it". South Ealing's chemist was the first place I visited because that would determine the future of the mission. They didn't have Garnier Olia Midnight Permanent Hair Colour 3.0 Soft Black. "Boots may have it", the pharmacist said. So off I went to Ealing Broadway.

At Boots, I miraculously found the last pack of the Garnier Olia 3.0 but there was a problem - the outer packaging was damaged! I asked the lady from the staff whether they have any more of these particular products. They didn't. A customer standing behind me in the queue suggested I could try to get a discount and that he often gets deals like that himself. That didn't work for me. I made a mildly disappointed expression and bluffed I may go and check Superdrug. That didn't work either. The cashier asked the manager about that option but he said no. I had no time to check Superdrug, so I settled for lower quality. At least I managed to get the product!

I weighed my options earlier on and decided the rest of the shopping will be done in Tesco Express in Ealing Broadway. I reckoned I'd rather carry all the groceries back for 20 minutes rather than be lighter, run to South Ealing and still would have to go to three different stores! That was a good decision as I bought almost everything in Tesco. The only remaining item was the corn oil which is always out of stock in that shop. I found it in one of the two convenience stores on my way back.

Now Ms N can tell her friend what GoodGym is. It is the best customer service ever.
