11 Goodgymers ran 4k to help Colchester Foodbank.

Our runners were not put off by the downpour that happened prior to the run and to reward them for showing up the shine gloriously.

After congratulating Bob for his parkrun PB on Saturday and 'In height order' (Chris, Tav, Ella, Emma, Katherine) for coming 4th in a pub quiz on Sunday at The Fat Cat, we set off to Colchester Foodbank. We ran along the sunny riverside route through Castle Park and many GGers enjoyed making natural confetti knocking blossom off the trees - they certainly had a spring in their step!

Michael greeted us at the Foodbank and immediately broke the news that Chris would not be able to mop, as this task had been reserved for the Sea Cadets who were also in to help. However, there was still sweeping and dusting to be done to keep the warehouse clean and tidy. Michael also asked if we wanted to help with moving some crates that needed to be weighed for an audit. Our enthusiastic team of GGers leapt at the chance to do some weight lifting and between us we managed to move and weigh nearly 1.5 tonnes of food for the audit, all catergorised into jams, meats, pulses and puddings - it got everybody's pulses going, whilst Bob enjoyed a little time jammin'! Emily did an excellent job of crate management in the storage container, whilst everyone else got lifting and moving.Louise, Chris and Helen did a great job of cleaning the warehouse, too.

After the tremendous effort made moving all those crates, Michael thanked us for all our hard work and we set off on our run back to Leisure World. Along the way we did some fartlek training and then did some stretches once back.

It was agreed that this coming Sunday evening at the Lexden Crown is to be quiz night whihc is open to anyone who would like to join. For anyone who would like to run the Colchester 10k route prior to the upcoming run event, a group of GGers will be meeting by the athletics track on Abbey Field at 8am on Monday morning.

What a crate time we had this evening!
