Jenny and Helen joined a local litter pick in central Headingley on a very wet Saturday morning. We set off with our purple litter bags and nifty grabbers and in 2 hours we filled 8 bags to bursting. As this event was 2 days after the annual student 'changeover day' there were ample pickings in the streets and parks. Lucky the council deals with the bulk of the mess, but we found loads of plastic bottles, cans and more in the street. That must have been one crazy after-party...

We are a small charity with limited resources, so jobs like this often fall by the wayside. It helps us to continue to focus on our core work, but also with compost, it means we can have less inputs and save money
