Our lives may have had a little Spice added to them with the presence of a little known band that visited on Monday but that didn’t STOP us. Who do we think we are? Well we’re GoodGym and it’s our mission to help the community and that’s just what we did today for Ms J who’s garden had become overgrown with hedges, brambles, and tall grass which made access quite difficult.

Erika and I were on hand to provide Ms J with the help and after we exchanged pleasantries Ms J provided us with plenty of tools to tackle Spiceworld! Was it Too Much? Never! Erika got started with the path at the front of the house, clearing all the weeds making it much easier to get to the front door whilst I started to tackle the brambles to the side of the house making the most of the tools on offer.

Once Erika finished clearing the front, she moved on to help clear up more of the brambles, some of which had some nasty looking thorns that could do some damage. Fortunately we were very well protected with our goggles and gloves, safety first!

We had cleared so much that the bin was filling up fast, so I jumped at the chance at getting in and doing a bit of compacting! Perhaps I enjoyed it a bit too much judging by my face however it proved useful as it gave us some extra room in the bin which we certainly needed.

I then started to tackle the overgrown grass around the back and it was only then that we started to appreciate how big and beautiful Ms J’s garden was! Armed with a strimmer, I got to work trimming the grass and taking the length down to a more manageable length. Erika continued to trim back the hedges, making sure there were no loose branches but soon wanted to get in on the act and had a go at strimming too. All of a sudden, the bin was full again and that was our time up too. We weren’t able to finish cutting all of the grass but we cleared enough to make the garden accessible from the front of the house once again.

Oh Mama! It was thirsty work but fortunately Ms J came out to provide us with refreshments and have a look at the progress we had made. She was pleased with the work we had done and very grateful for our help. It’s very rewarding to see the difference our help makes. And with that, all that was left was to say Goodbye and off we went to listen to some more Spice Girls, GoodGym power!
